It’s never too early to start sharing languages with your child. Whether you already speak English in the home or you simply want to introduce your child to a new language experience, reading a book together can give you the best possible start.
Tender Words is designed to bring inspiration, fun and discovery to language learning. Isabelle Boulliat takes us on a journey through the animal kingdom, using simple words that children can connect with and rhymes to enrich vocabulary from an early age. You may recognise some of those rhymes, while others have been created for this book.
Sophie Brannigan captures the magic of reading through her beautiful illustrations. Each page has been carefully crafted so that as you read together, you will be able to share the discovery of language.

Three years in Auckland gave her the chance to meet and befriend Sophie. She was the missing link Isabelle needed to turn that bilingual book dream into reality!
